“I am overwhelmed by the support from my hometown. Certainly this has to be the best Valentine’s Day gift ever,” says Kevin Turner. “We will use the funds to continue waiving our banner of awareness about ALS and brain trauma and to continue financially supporting research for treatment and cure of this disease.” The fundraising efforts were driven by local business leaders with Larry Puckett, owner of Larry Puckett Chevrolet, at the helm. “Our steering committee, which included Carl Barranco, Joe Espy, Bobo Gilpin, Horace Horn, Jerry Kyser, David Reed, Bob Runkle, David Thrasher, and Roscoe Williams, went over and above anything we could have imagined. We had discussed hoping to raise $40,000, but these men tripled that goal,” says Puckett. “Of course we couldn’t have done it without the amazing support of so many good people and businesses who stepped forward as sponsors.” While the complete list of sponsors can be found at www.kevinturnerfoundation.org, the Presenting Sponsors who donated a minimum of $2500 each included: Merrill Lynch, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Espy, Matrix, LLC, Dr, Steve Davidson, Max Credit Union, Ligon Industries, Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood, PowerSouth, Larry & Linda Puckett, Triton Management Group, Buckmasters, Alabama Power Co., Troy University and Jackson Hospital. ### About The Kevin Turner Foundation: Started in November 2010, The Kevin Turner Foundation has been created to bring attention to ALS and the need for a cure; to raise awareness about the seriousness of brain trauma in athletes at every level of competition and its connection to motor neuron diseases like ALS; and to financially support efforts to study, treat, prevent and ultimately cure this disease.
