Feb. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- In these challenging times refiners are increasingly looking at new methods to upgrade their facilities and improve yield for minimal cost and operational impact.

At the 13th International Downstream Technology & Strategy Conference (IDTC, 14 & 15 May) an expert speaker panel will examine the economic issues, legislative and environmental pressures impacting on today’s markets and present the latest strategies and technologies that will enable refiners to meet their operational goals and achieve significant financial improvements

Case studies of recent projects will be presented:

Petrobras’ successful application of Nebula™ as part of ULSD implementation strategy.
Technip Stone & Webster’s two year commercial BPSD HS-FCC™ semi-commercial plant at the Mizushima refinery Japan.
Belsim’s implementation of an Energy Performance management system (EPMS)
Topnir Systems’ unique tool for crude management application to Ecopetrol Crude network.

Over the years, residue upgrading has become increasingly recognised as the key solution to the pressing challenge of meeting the growing market for cleaner fuels, the gradual substitution to heavier feedstock and the decreasing demand for heavy oil.

The 11th Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference (BBTC, 16 & 17 May) remains the only event focusing on new technologies for upgrading crude oil residues including the modernization of existing facilities, implementing new units and the latest catalyst and equipment innovations.

Highlights include:

Outlook of heavy Product Production and its impact on the european Refining Industry
Resid Project Updates from NIS, Tamoil, Petrobras and IES
Hydrogen Production technologies & Techniques
Thermal & Gasification Processes
Advances in FCC Catalysts & Technologies
New Developments in Hydroprocessing

EPC has chosen the picturesque waterfront Rixos Libertas Hotel, located close to Dubrovnik Old Town.  To celebrate the 13th IDTC delegates are invited on board the Karaka – a replica of an important trading vessel from Dubrovnik’s past. The 11th BBTC Gala dinner will be held at the famous Leut Restaurant in old town Cavtat.
