Learning Source Hires Joshua Evans as Executive Director

Dec. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- The Learning Source for Adults and Families, a local nonprofit organization working to educate Denver metro adults and families, recently hired Joshua D. Evans as its new Executive Director.  
Established in 1964, The Learning Source (www.coloradoliteracy.org) is located at 455 S. Pierce in Lakewood and operates 29 literacy programs at 23 locations throughout the Denver metro area.
Evans has more than 12 years of diverse adult educational experience as an instructor, trainer and administrator in ESL (English as a Second Language), GED (General Educational Development), ABE (Adult Basic Education) and college transitions programming. Most recently, he has been an adjunct professor at Arapahoe Community College and the Adult Education Coordinator at the Community College of Aurora.
A certified adult education instructor by the Colorado Department of Education and Learning to Achieve Trainer, Evans has a Master’s degree in Environmental Leadership from Naropa University in Boulder, where he also served as adjunct faculty. Evans also holds Bachelors of Arts degrees in English and Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, and spent three years as the Education Coordinator for the Jefferson County Probation Education Program.

Evans and his family are Jefferson County residents. He is a marathon runner, member of the Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment, and a Board member of the Literacy Coalition of Colorado.
