The Miami Foundation’s first Give Miami Day to benefit hundreds of nonprofits this December
Foundation will bolster charitable donations during 24-hour, online event
“This is a distinctive way to introduce people to the important role of nonprofit organizations and help them learn more about how their donation can impact lives in greater Miami,” said Javier A. Soto, president and CEO of The Miami Foundation.
Donors will make charitable gifts to local nonprofits beginning at 12 midnight on December 12, 2012 and ending at 12 midnight on December 13, 2012. Every donation between $25 and $10,000 received through the Give Miami website on that day will have a percentage of it matched by The Miami Foundation.
“Give Miami Day will help us stimulate and grow philanthropy throughout the community,” said Nancy Jones, vice president for development and communications at The Miami Foundation. “Through the Give Miami site, donors can find and give to organizations doing the work they believe is best for Miami-Dade. It’s an easy way to support the causes most important to them.”
The Give Miami dnveq Day website provides in-depth information about hundreds of local nonprofits. Organizations featured on the site are able to tell their story – giving people in the community a better understanding of their results and the need for their services. The website connects visitors with like-minded donors who share similar passions. GiveMiamiDay.org provides the transparency donors need to make the kinds of decisions that turn a simple act of giving into a wise investment.
On December 12, any individual or business may visit the website and donate to the nonprofit organization of their choice. All donations must be made with a debit or credit card at GiveMiamiDay.org, and all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. To participate in Give Miami Day, nonprofit organizations must meet eligibility requirements and create a free profile on GiveMiamiDay.org before 5 p.m., Monday, November 26.
“When people love where they live, they develop strong pride in their community and a positive outlook on its future. In return, the community thrives economically,”
