Nov. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Montreal, Canada, October 25, 2012 - we are pleased to announce the new photography school “The Photo School” which offers photography courses and regular photography workshops for all levels, from beginner to advanced and pro.

Photography course for beginners

Our course for beginners is focusing on a most crucial issue for anybody who is starting to learn photography: shooting in Manual mode. Today, when modern digital cameras became affordable for public, the majority of their owners take pictures using AUTO mode.  According to Polina Fedorova, the teacher, “Shooting in AUTO is like using a microscope as a hammer. If you have already invested in a DSLR camera, you will want to learn to shoot in MANUAL mode, just to protect your investment ”.

The main idea of the course is to develop the basic skills, necessary to handle a DSLR camera in MANUAL mode. This is a must if you want to use the full potential of your camera. The course consists of three lessons, 2 hours each, the groups are small, maximum 5 persons. The students learn еhree pillars of digital photography : shutter speed, ISO, and aperture. We do not talk much, we practice. As a beginner, you do not necessarily need fully technical understanding of these three terms, you rather need to feel the mutual relationship between them.

Photography workshops

On a monthly basis we are offering photography workshops. Usually it’s a photo session in a professional studio under close supervision of a professional. We provide the model, the costumes and all the necessary studio equipment. Every workshops is addressing a particular problem, for instance “Studio portraits and lighting”, “How to shoot wedding couple outdoor”, “Imitation of fly”, “Interaction between two models in the frame”, “Communication with the model during the shooting”, “The pictorial : a photo story”. Students keep all the copyrights on their photos, and can use these materials in their portfolios.

One-to-one lessons

For students who prefer private tutoring we are offering one-to-one lessons. These lessons are scheduled individually for any levels. The main advantage of such a study, is that it enables you to focus on a particular topic you are mostly interested in. It might a be a course about real estate photography or a portfolio review.

About the school

The school is located close to Montreal downtown. The lessons take place in two studios as well as outside.
