By: OnApp BlackSun is promoting the launch of its new OnApp-based cloud service with a new $1.99 offer at http://www.cloudstuff.ca. BlackSun already offers high quality shared hosting services, alongside dedicated servers, colocation services and VPS hosting based on VMware. Its new OnApp cloud service was created to enable customers to deploy virtual servers on demand, with pay-as-you-go hourly billing. BlackSun customers can now launch and manage their own cloud services through an intuitive web-based portal. We talked to BlackSun's CEO Steve Rogoschewsky at this year's HostingCon about company's new cloud service. “Our customers were looking for an easy-to-use cloud based computing system where they could instantly deploy servers, and we found OnApp to be the best choice in this market,” he says. “They love the service, they love the fact that they can manage their servers with an iPad or their iPhone." “We see a big movement now for our more technical clients to be able to control their systems, moving more from a managed type solution to a more hands-on solution, and OnApp fits that product perfectly,” Steve adds. "Farthest from a faultline" Steve Rogoschewsky also talks about how the importance of reliability in its cloud platform. BlackSun services are hosted in a dual-redundant data center setup in Saskatoon, Canada, a location that offers a kind of natural resilience too. “The nice thing about our location is that nothing ever happens there. We’re known as the web hosting company based farthest from a faultline,” Steve says. BlackSun's new cloud website, http://www.cloudstuff.ca, joins http://dedicatedservers.ca and the core http://www.blacksun.ca site to give customers in Canada, and further afield, a range of hosting options backed by free technical support.
