Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- SAN JOSE, Calif. –  According to the National Institute on Aging, as many as 5.1 million Americans may have Alzheimer’s disease.  The CareMore Foundation is currently accepting grant applications from community organizations that focus on Alzheimer’s and dementia care. To support essential services for seniors in the communities it serves, CareMore Health Plan has established a not-for-profit foundation to grant funds, resources and recognition to local senior-focused community organizations.

“Alzheimer’s and dementia are critical healthcare issues in the senior community,” said Roslyn Jacobs, Regional Sales Manager of CareMore Health Plan.  “There are many unmet critical health needs for seniors that go unaddressed at the community level. Our focus will be to identify and support those charitable organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for all seniors.”

The CareMore Foundation was established in 2011 and funded through a donation from CareMore’s parent company, CareMore Medical Enterprises, based in Cerritos, California.  The Foundation has granted funds to more than a dozen community organizations dealing with senior care areas such as food security for seniors and social services. Past recipients of the CareMore Foundation grants include: Asian Americans for Community Involvement, The Health Trust, and Portuguese Organization for Social Services & Opportunities.  This is the Foundation’s 4th  grant campaign since its inception.

“We have many employees at CareMore who are already signing up to volunteer or provide additional resources for our community-based charity program efforts,” Jacobs added.  “Doing more for our community and seniors is a core value of CareMore.”

The CareMore Foundation is currently calling for applications from senior-focused, community-based not-for profit organizations that have a direct or indirect influence on the issues of senior Alzheimer’s and dementia.  The deadline for this grant cycle is October 31, 2012.  Applications submitted via email (PDF or XPS) are preferred.   For more information, please visit CareMoreFoundation.org.
