City of Orange resident wins Mrs. California International 2013

Oct. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Three new titleholders were crowned at the 2013 California International Pageant in Bakersfield at the Dore Theater before a live audience of almost 400.  The California state pageant is a preliminary to the Teen, Miss and Mrs International Pageant taking place in Chicago, IL each July.
 
33 year old Shana Smith from the City of Orange was crowned Mrs. California International after several intense areas of competition.  The International Pageant system weighs each contestants community service into their interview score which is 50% of their overall score.  Mrs. Smith competed in Interview, Fitness, on stage platform question and was escorted on stage in her evening gown by her husband Army Staff Sergeant Grant Smith.  
Mrs Smith has always been very active in her community, having volunteered with several of Orange County's domestic violence agencies, completed the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer 5 times and for the past 4 years she has worked with the Got Your Back Network assisting families of our fallen military and will continue to champion this platform during her reign.   Community service is a focal point in her life in many areas.  She feels that it's imperitive to teach our youth to give back and sees that time as wonderful memories created with her family.  Her husband rides and runs for Team RWB honoring our nations military.  As a family, service is a focus and a drive.
When asked about her win, Shana told us; “I have worked towards this dream for most of my life, to be able to represent my state and an organization that means the world to me on a National and International level.  I am still in shock that this is my year.  I will do my best to make my state proud and represent the families of our fallen service members with the dignity and honor they deserve.”
Shana works full time as a Procurement Coordinator and enjoys being a soccer mom to her daughter Krystina.  As a family they love cheering on our local teams both the Angels and the Ducks.  
In addition to each contestant’s charitable platform, International Pageants, Inc. supports the National Heart Association’s Go Red for Women program through volunteer and financial support. The Go Red for Women movement is dedicated to fighting heart disease among women.  
The Mrs. International Pageant is owned and operated by International Pageants, Inc., which also operates Miss International and Miss Teen International pageants.  It is the only platform-based pageant system dedicated to highlighting women’s accomplishments through community support.
