Birdman of Blakemere Re-Launches Cheshire Falconry

Oct. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- CHESHIRE Falconry, one of Britain’s most long established and prestigious bird of prey centres, has re-launched with a new headquarters at Sandiway’s Blakemere Craft Centre, and exciting and ambitious plans for expansion.

Sixteen years after establishing the business, founder Steve Birchall has sold Cheshire Waterlife, the pet and pet supplies company which ran alongside Cheshire Falconry, to concentrate on his beloved birds of prey.

“After years of running both businesses, I have decided to prioritise Cheshire Falconry because I have always had a passion for birds of prey and the ancient sport of hunting with falcons,” said Steve. “I’m now determined to grow Cheshire Falconry and share the delights and the excitement of falconry with as many people as possible.”

Steve has invested in a modern new reception building for Cheshire Falconry at the heart of the craft centre which adjoins an extensive aviary which houses just some of an impressive selection of birds of prey.

In fact he has just increased his stock to 70 birds, a significant collection which comprises white tailed sea eagles, falcons, hawks, buzzards, eagle owls and many others.

“We’ve now got a very impressive array of birds for the public to admire as well as for demonstrations,” added Steve. “But most people visit us for our legendary Birds of Prey Experience Days which enables people to enjoy handling the birds at close quarters under the supervision of one of our three full time falconers.

“There are a variety of experiences to choose from, including the popular Raptor Encounter which tends to focus on falcons, eagles and buzzards. There’s nothing more exciting than watching a powerful hawk soar through the sky only to land gracefully on your extended arm.

“However, we have so many different experiences available there will always be something suitable for everybody. In fact we lay on demonstrations for schools, organise events for businesses and we’re often even present at weddings.”

Cheshire Falconry offers a range of wedding services which include wedding ring delivery (by bird of prey) and flying displays.

“We really have got something for everybody and I’m delighted to be concentrating on Cheshire Falconry at a time when we are looking forward to sustained growth,” added Steve. “In fact, the run-up to Christmas is our busiest time of year thanks to the popularity of our amazing Experience Days.
