BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment- BRE launches new assessment method

Oct. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- The BRE have launched the BREEAM assessment method aimed at measuring the sustainability of the refurbishment of domestic properties. BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment provides a design and assessment method for sustainable domestic refurbishment projects, serving as a tool to improve the sustainability and environmental performance of existing dwellings.
The assessment is set out in 3 stages:
1.   Establish the dwelling(s) Baseline Performance. This is assessed by a BREEAM Refurbishment Assessor by either carrying out a site visit or through the existing data that may already be available.
2.   Design Stage Assessment is carried out by the BREEAM assessor using the accredited assessment tools and calculations. Once completed an Interim design stage BREEAM certificate will be issued.
3.   Post Construction Review is carried out by the BREEAM assessor and once completed Final BREEAM certificates will be issues which will confirm the final “As Refurbished” performance of the building.
