Sept. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Green Coffee Bean Extract (GCBE) is all over the news and the internet and health food stores can’t keep it on the shelves, says http://www.HealthyAnswers.com in a recent health alert.  But, unlike many other diet aids, HealthyAnswers.com relates that Green Coffee Bean Extract has been clinically studied and found to have bone fide positive results in weight loss. For example, HealthyAnswer.com cites a 22 week double blind study out of the University of Pennsylvania.  Participants who used the green coffee bean extract lost an average of 17 lbs with a 10% decrease in overall body weight and a 16% decrease in body fat.  

HealthyAnswers.com states that Green Coffee Bean Extract was also tested on the popular Dr.  Oz television show on 2 audience members who did not change their diets and took only the GCBE. After only 1 week, one of the test subjects reported losing 6 lbs while the other lost 2 lbs.  

HealthyAnswers.com also reports that, like many diet aids on the market today, Green Coffee Bean Extract also has its detractors.   Some healthcare professionals question whether GCBE may raise dangerous homocysteine – a blood chemical marker for heart disease. Yet, HealthyAnswers.com cites a Japanese study done as far back as 2004 [Green coffee bean extract improves human vasoreactivity,  Hypertens Res, 2004 Oct;27(10):731-7] with results that study participants given GCBE showed lower homocysteine levels than the placebo group.  The GCBE group actually had improved vasoreactivity – strength of the arterial walls – than the placebo group.  

Other concerns of some healthcare professionals, reports HealthyAnswers.com, is that GCBE may interfere with blood sugar control.  Yet, HealthyAnswers also cites a study published by Life Extension Magazine [Suppress Deadly After-Meal Blood Sugar Surges, February 2012], with results that GCBE lowered post meal blood sugar surges by 24% compared to the placebo group.  Another study showed a 32% post meal blood sugar reduction.
