Sept. 24, 2012
-- SOUTHGATE, MICH.—The brand new 2013 Honda Accord hit showrooms recently, and Honda is producing the midsize sedan at a record pace to keep up with demand.
According to a Honda spokesperson, production of the Accord was over 6,000 units per week at the company’s plant in Ohio as of Sept. 14, marking the fastest pace at which a Honda has ever been produced. “Typically, some of our initial indicators for a production ramp-up are set for a three-month level,” said Mike Fisher, production leader for the Accord. “We’ve challenged ourselves to meet that in one month.”
The ninth-generation Accord, which is now available at Bruce Campbell Honda, offers a choice between two engines—a 2.4-liter inline-four-
cylinder engine with direct injection, and a 3.5-liter V6 engine. It offers an improved driving experience, superior comfort and better gas mileage than its predecessors.
The 2012 model of the Honda Accord remains the second-best selling U.S. car, behind only the Toyota Camry.
