Add snow removal planning to your fall to-do list

Lee’s Summit landscaper encourages homeowners and property owners to plan ahead for a wet winter

Sept. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. – Sept. 19, 2012 – The Ant and the Grasshopper fable teaches the value of preparedness. As some initial predictions include a wet winter for 2012, Kansas Citians are encouraged to “be like the ant” in the fable and plan ahead for snow removal services.

“Smart homeowners associations and property managers book snow removal companies many months in advance because they know they need dependable workers when the snowfall hits,” said Tim Brown, owner of Olympic Lawn & Landscape in Lee’s Summit, Mo.”

Waiting to hire a snow removal company until the forecast predicts precipitation can become a challenge. Companies such as Olympic Lawn & Landscape that offer snow removal service during winter months only take on jobs they know they can handle. Many of those clients book several months in advance to guarantee they’ll have dependable snow removal service.

“We only have a certain number of trucks and staff to quickly remove the snow, so we often have our contracts lined up months before even one snowflake falls,” said Brown.

Wet Winter Predictions for the 2012 Midwest Forecast

While weather patterns are only a prediction of what’s to come, the fun (yet oftentimes accurate) almanacs say the Midwest can expect a typical winter, but count on precipitation. According to Caleb Weatherbee, a secret weather predictor who uses a mysterious formula to predict weather patterns for Farmers Almanac,

“For the winter of 2011–12, the Farmers’ Almanac is forecasting “clime and punishment,” a season of unusually cold and stormy weather. For some parts of the country, that means a frigid climate; while for others, it will mean lots of rain and snow.”

Particularly for the Kansas City region, predictions say to expect average temps but a very wet winter. According to Almanac.com,

“Good news: Areas suffering from drought during Summer 2012 should receive enough winter precipitation to bring improvement.”

Homeowners and property managers are encouraged to line up snow removal services this fall to prepare for the wet winter predictions.  Like the ant in the old fable teaches, it’s best to always be prepared.
