Acclaimd Steps Into the Spotlight at the 10-xelerator New Venture Showcase
Ohio Startup Scene Heats Up as Acclaimd Unveils Social-Driven Technology That Revitalizes Dated Employee Referral Model
Acclaimd is one of eight startups to participate in the intensive 10-week 10-xelerator Program, sponsored by the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business’ Center for Entrepreneurship and the Ohio New Entrepreneurs (ONE) Fund. Designed around employers’ needs while rewarding employee engagement, Acclaimd is the first complete solution to actively address weaknesses in the current referral model by increasing the quality and volume of referrals, while lowering administrative costs and providing flexibility to adapt to changing hiring cycles.
“The 10x program screened hundreds of candidates over the last 14 months and none have been stronger than Acclaimd,” said S. Michael Camp, Ph.D., executive director, Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (TEC) Institute, Center for Entrepreneurship, The Ohio State University. “The founders bring the right blend of ‘can do’ attitude with a coachable spirit, just what every investor demands of a young entrepreneurial team. And, the idea addresses a real problem spot in private enterprise. The opportunity is big and the future is bright for Acclaimd, and we’re proud to see them moving on after Showcase Day.”
Born during a Startup Weekend event held in Columbus, Ohio, Acclaimd is a prime example of the thriving startup landscape in the Midwest. Dubbed “Silicorn Valley” in some tech circles, the Midwest is producing more startups like Acclaimd that bring greater visibility to its plentiful pool of resources, including access to funding, experienced mentors and an overall lower cost of doing business.
“As with many involved in the local central Ohio startup scene, we believe that disruptive innovation is not inherently limited to the west coast or New York City,” said Derek Edwards, co-founder, Acclaimd. “We're honored to have had the opportunity to participate in 10x and are excited to show over the coming months that Ohio is ready to compete in the web startup space.”
