Team Smile and Nod Releases Single “Dust from the Stars” on TuneTrack.net

Sept. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Next Gen music label Artistech Media is pleased to release electro pop duo Team Smile and Nod’s single on TuneTrack.net.  “Dust from the Stars” is the first glimpse and title track of the pinnacle album of Team Smile and Nod’s collaboration.

“We’re very excited for this release,” Rich Ratvasky shares.  “When Kara and I were debating on the album single, we realized we could enlist the help of our fans.  We posted a short clip of “Dust from the Stars” and another album track and asked our friends and fans to vote on their favorite.  “Dust from the Stars” was a clear winner with 70% of the votes.”  

“Dust from the Stars” lyrics describe a journey through a confusing dream-world that reveals an infinite dedication to love.  The atmospheric and ambient sounds, orchestral build, soft percussion, and calm vocal delivery sooth the listener while invoking imagery of a brilliant night sky.

“Team Smile and Nod are taking their writing and production to a new level with Dust from the Stars,” commented Emily Richards, CEO of ArtisTech Media. “The single sets the tone for the album. Dust from the Stars is expansive for the mind and delightful for the ears.”

ArtisTech Media, the company that operates ccMixter.org, is creating partnerships with artists, signing non-exclusive contracts, and releasing site content under Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike Creative Commons licenses, thereby allowing listeners to share the gift of music – without being criminalized. Creative Commons licenses give musicians freedom to collaborate with other artists, and gives fans the opportunity to interact with the music.

“We’re releasing the vocal stems to all of the songs on our third album on ccMixter,” Kara explains.  “It’s extremely fun to hear what other producers do with our music.  This incredible site allows us to connect with artists and listeners from all over the world through remix.  We find it extra special because our band started with a remix.”

Team Smile and Nod is an electro pop duo from Columbus, Ohio that formed in 2004.  About a week after swapping demo CDs, Rich Ratvasky (artist-producer) surprised Kara Square (singer-songwriter) with a remix of one of her songs.  Inspired by the remix, they merged their musical styles into an upbeat, melody-driven, politically-inspired fusion.  Their sound has been compared to Broken Bells, Bat For Lashes, Massive Attack, and Fever Ray.   ArtisTech Media released their second album on June 21, 2011.
