Thankfully with the help of some brilliant designers they are able to do so too. With exceptional originality, each designer has carved a niche for themselves and proved that red is not the only color that can be associated with the bridal couture. They make a perfect balance of fabric and embroidery, color and design, to make the bride look perfect on her D-day. Shaadi Invite lists some of these brilliant designers and their muse:

RITU KUMAR AND GENELIA D’ SOUZA: Indian bridal couture would have never looked so good had it not been for this lady, who is oft called the first lady of Indian fashion industry. She uses crafts from all over India from zardozi to kashmiri kadhai to chikan kari to create magnificent dresses that have a very regal, Indian look. She has dressed up celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Princess Diana. She had put together wedding couture for Genelia D’Souza.“Genelia is such a young and petite girl that it was fun to make the wedding trousseau for her. I avoided bling and shimmer because I didn’t want clothes to overshadow her personality. Hence the silhouette which I designed for her is simple yet elegant and chic,” says Kumar and continues, “I have chosen colours that will enhance her vivacious personality. She can carry off the traditional Indian look beautifully.
The Anarkali and lehenga designed will complement Genelia.”

TARUN TAHILIANI AND SHILPA SHETTY: When it comes to wedding outfits, this man works wonders. His Creations are rich in traditional zardosi kadhai with the sparkle of Swaroski Crystals. In 2005, Tahiliani was the first Indian Designer to be invited to show in the Milan Fashion Week. He now retails from many prestigious retail locations worldwide. The Tarun Tahiliani brand is available at four Tarun Tahiliani Boutiques in New Delhi and Mumbai. This year will also see a new addition in Hyderabad. He is an office-bearer and founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India.

He designed Shilpa Shetty’s entire bridal trousseau and needless to say, she dazzled in the super sexy lehenga she wore for her reception.

MANISH MALHOTRA AND KARISMA KAPOOR: this man needs no introduction as most of the bollywood actresses have worn his designs for their films. His clothes have a fresh look and is never shy when it comes to using unusual fabrics. He has dressed up every Bollywood actress, from Kareena to Katrina to Bipasha and the list goes on and on.

He also designed the wedding trousseau for Karisma Kapoor when she married her childhood friend Sunjay Kapur. For the wedding, Karisma wore a Manish Malhotra- designed crystals-encrusted shell pink lehenga choli, and bedecked in dazzling diamond jewellery and diamond encrusted sandals. For her mehendi, Karisma wore a Manish Malhotra designed mustard lehenga choli with green gemstone jewellery.
