Harbour St. Fish Bar at Cranberry Mews

Aug. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Collingwood, Ont. (August 27, 2012) – The newly opened Harbour St. Fish Bar is winning rave reviews from locals and tourists alike. A far cry from the stereotypical fish and chips shop, the restaurant offers a broad selection of fish (from fresh caught Georgian Bay whitefish to salmon to halibut) prepared with traditional British-style batter or Cajun-style, a choice of traditional and sweet potato chips, and plenty of other options that includes soups, salads and sandwiches.  

The Bar offers fresh, local products that are high in quality, yet reasonable in price.  “We try to look out for our neighbors” says owner Jay Lapetina, “We have whitefish from Georgian Bay, Collingwood whiskey, Creemore beer and a variety of produce from around the area. There’s really nothing else like it in the area.”

Lapetina, who has been a permanent resident in Collingwood for 18 years, toiled with the idea of opening the Bar for several years but couldn’t find a suitable venue for the restaurant. “When Cranberry Mews opened we knew it was perfect for our business” notes Lapetina. “It’s easily accessible, but you don’t have to fight the downtown traffic. Plus, we have great parking and an attractive outdoor patio accented with floral arrangements.”

The Harbour St. Fish Bar has enjoyed great success following their formal opening a few weeks back. “The phone’s been ringing off the hook and we’ve had a constant flow of customers. We’ve been welcomed with open arms” observes Lapetina.  

Lapetina looks forward to meeting the needs of both locals and tourists. “We want to cater to as many people as possible, so we have excellent dishes for those who prefer something other than seafood. We’ve really taken the Fish and Chips niche to a new level.” In short, customers get the fish and chips experience, in an attractive environment, but for an affordable price. “It’s the best of both worlds” remarks Lapetina.

The Fish Bar is also eager to supply customers with more information on the web. Staff members are working on an independent website which will be regularly updated with events and specials.
