NEMT named Employer of the Year

Aug. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- WOOLWICH, MAINE:  The Maine-based medical transcription firm NEMT has been named Employer of the Year by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), the national clinical documentation organization.
Out of hundreds of clinical documentation firms in the United States, NEMT was chosen because of its commitment to its 200 employees and independent contractors.
“We are both gratified and humbled to be chosen for such a prestigious honor,” said CEO and owner Linda Sullivan. “We’re especially proud of our managers, editors, medical transcriptionists and support staff, who make NEMT such a great place to work.”
NEMT President Linda Allard accepted the award on Aug. 9 during AHDI's national convention in Indianapolis. In accepting the award, she credited CEO and owner Linda Sullivan for creating the company’s close-knit team environment.
“Linda Sullivan started out as a medical transcriptionist and built the company from the ground up,” Allard said. “She knows first-hand how challenging it is to work from home and so she’s put a great deal of effort into making sure that our MTs always feel like they’re part of a cohesive and supportive team.
NEMT’s selection as Employer of the Year is particularly noteworthy precisely because team members work from home and most have never seen any of their coworkers or managers. Because of this, the entire NEMT team works hard to ensure everyone feels like they’re part of a close community.
The staff sends out contests with prizes, creates internal newsletters with pictures and stories from team members, and encourages those who live near each other to participate together in charity walks and other events.
In 2012, NEMT expanded this effort with a new charity match program for all team members. While many companies offer charity matches for full-time employees, NEMT makes this program available to part-timers and independent contractors as well.
NEMT also pays for employees and contractors to take professional credentialing exams and provides free professional training courses by an outside agency.
All of these measures are part of NEMT’s mission to provide industry-leading documentation service to patients.
