Aug. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Frustrated users who shuffle between different work stations and operating systems can now eliminate the task of painstakingly uploading and downloading data files onto cloud or file sharing services. Creation, preservation and transferring digital content between Apple® Mac® OS and Windows® PC can now be a seamless, fuss-free process at unparalleled speeds with Buffalo™ MiniStation™ Thunderbolt (HD-PATU3) Hard Disk Drive (HDD) series.

The HD-PATU3 comes in 2 variants (1TB and 500GB) to suit the different needs and usage patterns of consumers today. The MiniStation™  Thunderbolt series boasts both Thunderbolt™ and USB 3.0 interface connections that work  right out of the box with both Windows and pre-formatted for Mac® OS devices. Without compromising transfer speeds and accessibility of files stored, the HD-PATU3 helps duo-ecosystem consumers manage digital content at an unprecedented level of ease.

Akihito Kondo, Asia Pacific Regional Manager at Buffalo Inc. shares, “Creating, storing and moving digital content on the go has always been a challenge for all types of users for a variety of reasons: the interface was incompatible; too slow or the storage solution was physically too large. Buffalo’s collaboration with Intel to deliver the world’s first dual-interface Thunderbolt and USB storage solution; as well as the world’s first portable Thunderbolt hard drive reaffirms Buffalo’s pioneering spirit and engineering excellence."

Thunderbolt™ and USB 3.0 interface connections
USB 3.0 offers super fast transfer speeds of 5Gbps for Windows and PC, while the Thunderbolt™ provides twice as much speed as the USB 3.0 at 10Gbps speed transfer. This latest offering in technology means that digital content can be created, stored and transferred with ease at high speeds with bi-directional dual channels in the cable. The HD-PATU3 is also backward compatible for USB 2.0 devices.

Time Machine compatibility and daisy chaining
The MiniStation™ Thunderbolt™ series is pre-formatted for Mac operating system out of the box and is compatible with Apple® backup utility software Time Machine. With its hybrid nature, the HD-PATU3 works with Windows® supported hardware without compromising on speed or performance. The MiniStation™ Thunderbolt™ HDD comes with all the necessary cables included and can be daisy chained up to 6** Thunderbolt™ devices to maximise the use of a single port.

**MiniStation™ Thunderbolt™ does not have a Thunderbolt™ pass-through port so it must be the last device on a daisy-chain

Bus-Power for mobility and convenience
The Bus-powered feature eliminates the need for an external power supply and thus the need to carry additional cables and adaptors, ensuring that the slim, lightweight MiniStation™ Thunderbolt™ complements MacBooks and Windows laptops perfectly anytime.

Aesthetically appealing companion
Measuring a mere 13cm by 8cm and thickness of 2.3cm, the MiniStation™ Thunderbolt™ comes with a sleek aluminium casing and slips into most bag pockets with ease. In pearly white, it serves as good looking and highly mobile companion for Macbook and/or Windows Laptop users.
Protect information in style with full functionality with the world’s first portable dual interface hard disk for Mac and Windows; Buffalo™’s MiniStation™ Thunderbolt™ (HD-PATU3) HDD series.
