Indian government is going to implement setting of black boxe, radio tag & overload sensor in truck

July 21, 2012 - PRLog -- The road transport ministry in India is thinking to put in black boxes (which are applied in plane), radio-tags and overload-sensors in trucks. It is widely used in USA to prevent road accident.

The Indian government is going to issue an order to all leading auto manufacturers like Tata Motors, Maruti and Bajaj, to think about fitting IT-enabled gadgets to get better safety of vehicles, aid track them and decrease clogging at toll plazas.

The black boxes alias event data recorders will be useful to present a picture of events preceding a crash.

In the US, vehicles based black boxes are programmed to make active the minute air bags get inflated. The government is going to adapt this in local ways In India as there are always possibilities for rear-end collisions, side collisions and so on.

The government will soon announce to get it obligatory for new trucks to be fitted with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags in order to make all toll plazas RFID-enabled in two years with the intention that tax can be electronically taken away as a vehicle move across.

Identification of any truck at any moment will be possible for security agencies if the trucks are provided with RFID tags.

The government also ordered auto manufacturers to set up overload sensors in new trucks. If a truck is overloaded with weight beyond its capacity, the sensors can instantly deactivate the electrical circuit.

Under Section 114 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, if a vehicle is carrying overload, the surplus weight should have been off-loaded at the expense of the vehicle's driver. This is in addition to a penalty and compounding fee that will be charged prior to the vehicle is permissible to go on.
