Water Tanks & Services Ltd Awarded Crown Paints Sprinkler Tank Refurbishment Contract

This project required the repair of numerous leaks around the tanks base, followed by the application of a three coat epoxy system to prevent further corrosion. A new low level access panel was also installed to reduce confined space restrictions.

July 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Sprinkler tanks are an integral part of most fire protection systems, often storing up to a million litres of water. Fire sprinkler reservoirs are generally an "out of sight, out of mind" item of plant, with only periodic inspections by fire system maintenance companies.

Sprinkler tanks are commonly found in large manufacturing units and warehousing premises.

Water Tanks & Services were approached by a national packaging company back in 2007, and were asked if refurbishment of such a badly leaking sprinkler tank was possible.

Mick Brightmore of WT&S said " At the time we hadn`t been involved in sprinkler tank projects, and needed to create a repair and corrosion prevention method. The repair method we came up with involved an internal and external repair of the tanks perforated areas, This method sealed and strengthened the existing corrosion points. We then carried out a manual surface preparation and applied three coats of glass flake epoxy to prevent further corrosion. This system allows us to issue a ten year guarantee against further leakages. In recent years, insurance companies have started to demand sprinkler tank condition reports, resulting in increased interest in our system."

Sprinkler tank refurbishment has quickly become WT&S`s core business, with a team solely dedicated to this type of project.
