Munger Construction Chosen to Build Public Works Sanitation Garage

July 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Branford, CT; The Pat Munger Construction Company, Inc. has been selected as general contractor by North Haven's Department of Public Works to build the town's new Sanitation Equipment Storage Building along with various site improvements.  This investment will enable the town to move from an off-site rental facility, which will eliminate a recurring lease payment. “By owning the facility outright, and with a useful life of over 50 years, the town will reap considerable savings”, stated First Selectman Michael Freda.

The project includes general construction of a 5,000 sq. ft. Varco-Pruden pre-engineered steel building with a series of overhead doors, associated utilities, retaining wall, paving and associated line striping. Munger overcame challenging soil conditions by using "flowable fill lean concrete", a strong, but liquid medium that holds the foundation at a certain level to avoid settlement, which enables a safe work environment for a 16 feet deep area that needed to be re-excavated.

“Consolidating operations personnel and sanitation equipment at a single location will enhance cohesiveness of the Field Operations Division", said Public Works Director Lynn Sadosky. "This will better support our town’s infrastructure needs”.
