Ugly Dog Media to host "Ugliest Dog Contest" for Downtown South Bend's First Fridays, August 3rd

July 6, 2012 - PRLog -- SOUTH BEND, IN – They call them the Dog Days of summer for a reason. Many say that it’s an ancient astrological fallacy based on the “Dog Star” Sirius. We’d rather think that it’s inspired by the way in which dogs lay down on the porch in a panting, drooling stupor during the hottest days of the year. Not the prettiest thing in the world, that’s for sure… the summer heat can turn even cute little pups into a hot mess. But when you combine boiling temperatures with innate unattractiveness, it will lead to some acutely unfortunate canine visages.
 
Rather than loathe your pet’s paucity of good looks, why don’t you embrace it? Ugly Dog Media wants to get all of Michiana’s ugliest dogs together downtown on August 3rd, for an Ugliest Dog Contest.

It’s all part of DTSB’s monthly First Fridays celebration. This month’s theme, Dog Days of Summer, is barking up the right tree for a lot of Michiana residents. Dozens of events are planned for the occasion, and your dog is invited to most of them. That’s right; your best friend is more than welcome to accompany you for an afternoon on the town, as long as you keep them on a leash.

Do you have a critter who’s taken a serious blow from the ugly stick? Make a date to bring him or her down to this fun-filled event. If anything, your dog will enjoy meeting others who share its affliction. But there’s more to it than just fraternization – there’s prizes, ribbons, and public adulation. Prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories. Our grand prize for “Worst in Show” will be a $50 gift certificate to downtown’s Siam Restaurant.

While it’s certainly not the intended central focus of the day’s activities, our Ugliest Dog Contest is guaranteed to steal the show with mirthful notoriety. You get this many mangy mutts together, there’s no telling how much gawking and gasping will ensue. Your putrid pup is going to relish all the attention and adoration.
