In the ideal case, the parents will create the Parenting Plan together and then submit the plan to the court.  In other cases, however, parents can go to custody court where the judge will make the decisions about the terms of the plan.  An important aspect of the Parenting Plan is scheduling parenting time, or a visitation schedule, to determine how much time each parent spends with the child or children.  Additionally, physical custody of the child must be decided as to where the child will live.
