Green Home Experts Brews Up Support for Local Food Pantry

June 26, 2012 - PRLog -- OAK PARK, IL.  Green Home Experts will host their first-ever “Battle of the Brews” homebrewing competition on July 12th to support the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry.  Partnering with neighboring business, The Kinderhook Tap, GHE has lined up ten homebrewers to enter their favorite brews in the hopes of winning the “Master Hopster” or “Homebrewer of the Year” awards.

Certified Beer Judge Marty Nachel, renowned author and “Ale-Conner Beer Certification Program” founder, will be among the celebrity judges to award “Homebrewer of the Year” to one lucky competitor. http://www.ale-conner.com/.  Judge Nachel’s books, “Beer for Dummies” and “Homebrewing for Dummies”, will be on hand for those who want to pick up an autographed copy.  

Each attendee will also have a chance to cast their vote for their favorite brew to determine which of the ten will be the people’s choice as “Master Hopster”.   Winners for each category will receive a $100 gift certificate to The Kinderhook Tap.

“We know there are some pretty impressive brews being concocted in the basements and garages throughout our community.  This is the chance for these artisans to strut their stuff and vie for top honors, all while contributing to a great cause,” commented Maria Onesto Moran, GHE owner.

Tickets for the Battle of the Brews are $25 and must be purchased in advance from Green Home Experts, 811 South Boulevard, in Oak Park. Admission is 21 and over only.  Great food compliments of The Kinderhook Tap and a free commemorative beer stein is included in the ticket price.  GHE will also be offering special discounts on Mr. Beer homebrewing kits that evening.
