Green Home Experts Hosts Jam Session this Season

May 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Green Home Experts announces their first in a series of canning classes this season – strawberry rhubarb jam.  Teaming up with expert canner, Emily Paster, GHE offers students the chance to learn the basics from one of the best.  

On Sunday, June 10th, twelve lucky students will leave the GHE canning class with new skills, a jar of their own strawberry rhubarb jam, a special deal on canning supplies, and a burgeoning joy for canning. https://www.facebook.com/GreenHomeExperts.

An avid canner and proprietor of West of the Loop Canning, Paster is also known for her frequent articles about food and parenting that have appeared in Chicago Parent magazine and her blog, West of the Loop.  When not teaching her trade to eager students throughout the Chicagoland area, she is busy as co-founder of the "Chicago Food Swap", a favorite pastime of food lovers to swap and share their homemade, and often home grown, goods.

Commenting on the growing popularity of canning, GHE owner Maria Onesto Moran said, “We’re seeing our customers return to canning which was much more of a tradition of their parent’s childhood than their own.  Some are finding grandma’s old recipes or looking to start their own tradition.  Either way, they’re taking great pride and pleasure in canning the gifts of their garden.”
