Bridgeport Village Announces Sixth Annual Summer Concert Series Lineup

June 19, 2012 - PRLog -- TIGARD, Ore. – Portland’s premiere shopping and dining destination, Bridgeport Village, announced today the band schedule for the 2012 Summer Concert Series. Beginning the evening of July 12, the free concerts will take place every Thursday through August 30.

The announcement kicks off the sixth season of the extremely popular Bridgeport Village Summer Concert Series, one of the most popular annual events at Bridgeport Village attracting thousands of guests each summer. Musical guests will take stage under the giant gazebo in the center rotunda from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

This year’s musical lineup features Portland and Seattle area bands. The series opens with a return engagement by Northwest group, Hit Explosion. Voted Best Live Performance Cover Band by the Northwest Music Awards Association and Best Local Band by The Eastside Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, Hit Explosion performs authentic 70’s and 80’s disco and dance hits. Featuring an ensemble possessing a rare and unique chemistry, Hit Explosion is known for their ability to captivate and energize diverse audiences.

“The 2012 lineup features return performances  from many of our favorite groups and artists as well as a few amazing folks new to the Bridgeport Summer Concert Series,” said Sarah Sumpter, Assistant Marketing Director for CenterCal Properties, owners of Bridgeport Village. “We’re excited to host these free concerts for the sixth summer and welcome back guests of all ages looking for an entertaining evening out.” Family-friendly shows also feature a wine and beer garden and a large children’s play area.

As in previous years, a portion of food and drink sales will be donated to The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools Bridging the Gap campaign. Student performers will take the stage each Thursday at 5:30pm to warm up the crowd. Donations to The Foundation can be made at Bridgeport Village during each of the concerts. There is a suggested $1 donation which is collected at the door by student volunteers.

July 12:  Voted Best Live Performance Cover Band by the Northwest Music Awards Association and Best Local Band by The Eastside Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, Hit Explosion performs authentic 70’s and 80’s disco and dance hits. July 19: Radical Revolution, formerly known as The Breakfast Club, performs the best of 80’s rock and dance music. Performing hits originally covered by artists ranging from Van Halen to Cindy Lauper to Bryan Adams, Radical Revolution will keep the crowd rocking.

July 26: Petty Fever, a full production Tom Petty Tribute show band, is widely hailed as one Northwest act not to miss.

August 2: Oregon’s own chart topping artist known for their hit “Harden My Heart,” Quarterflash originally performed together in the 70’s and have gone on to release four albums garnering gold and platinum records and tours with Elton John, Linda Ronstadt and assorted big-haired 80's acts. Today

August 9: Apple Jam: recreating the authentic sound of the Beatles while adding their own stage persona, Apple Jam has sold out shows at major venues in Seattle, and most recently headlined Beatle Week 2009 with Alan White in Liverpool. Apple Jam was formed in 2005, in support of "(Just Like) Starting Over," a stage play based on John Lennon's final interview.

August 16: Stone in Love: The Portland-based performs faithful renditions of Journey hits, one of the most loved rock groups of all time. With soaring lead vocals, unique guitar licks and robust rhythms, Stone in Love is quickly becoming on the Northwest’s hottest tribute bands.

August 23: Cool-Ade: One of Seattle’s hottest and newest dance and party bands brings audiences a review of the decades with a variety of costumes and choreography. The group plays the best disco hits of the ‘70’s, retro hits of the 80’s and power tunes of the 90’s.

August 30: The Beatnicks: Since their debut in 1991, The Beatnicks have been entertaining audiences of all ages with their high-energy classic sound and vigorous stage presence. The four-man group performs music of the 60’s and 70’s and has more than 2,000 performances under their belt and is a Bridgeport Village favorite.
