Space Matrix Helps Deliver World’s Third Greenest Building

May 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Bangalore, May 27, 2012: Space Matrix, the international architecture and interior design firm founded by Indian architect Shagufta Anurag, has completed work on new office facilities in Singapore for the Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas.  This new facility has been awarded the LEED Corporate Interior (CI) Platinum certification, the highest credential issued by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to facilities that meet testing sustainability guidelines. With an overall score of 93 points, this is the third most sustainable facility in the world.

The only other buildings across the globe to have been awarded a higher LEED CI score than Vestas’ new Singapore office are the USGBC headquarters in Washington DC and Jones Lang LaSalle’s headquarters in Hong Kong.

At the heart of this project was the fit-out of approximately 3,200 m² of office space including the creation of new conference room facilities, open space areas, private offices, meeting rooms and a state-of-the-art laboratory for the research and design team.  Space Matrix was tasked with creating a sustainable workplace that aligned with Vestas’ overall corporate objectives and with a tight deadline in place, the technical teams, subcontractors and designers all worked together to deliver an outstanding workplace that is fun, innovative and environmentally friendly.

In terms of innovation and fun, the reception has a floating light-box with LED colours that change depending on the time of the day. Plants have been integrated into this LEED Platinum workplace to assist in better internal air quality as well as visual relief.  Natural wind plays a key role in helping to keep the facility cool whilst the use of bright colours in break-out spaces and shared areas helps to create a positive working environment. Materials with high recycled content have been used to reduce the burden on virgin materials.
