The Quaker School at Horsham Hosted Successful Annual School Fair on May 19, 2012

May 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Horsham, PA May 25, 2012-- The Quaker School at Horsham (TQS) held its annual school fair on the grounds of the school on May 19, 2012. “TQS” is a school for bright children who learn differently. Students are taught using research-based programs in language arts, math and assistive-technology.

It is tradition that on “TQS Day” the formal education takes a back seat to old-fashioned school-fair-fun. The Parents’ Association, with the assistance of the school’s Director of Development, creates a welcoming music-filled day with delicious home-made foods, competitive and collaborative games, many varied hands-on creative craft activities, and exotic face painting. The inflated “moon bounce” and “obstacle course” added excitement to the day for those who dared to join those popular events.

Other special events on TQS Day included a car wash by the eighth and ninth grade students who raised money to support the cost of their class trip to NYC. Another special project was a lemonade stand fundraiser organized by a fifth grade student. Hearing a news report about patients at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, the student was moved to initiate a project to support childhood cancer treatment on TQS Day.

TQS Day is the day to celebrate the community that is the spirit behind this very unusual school. This year, the sky was a perfect blue, the temperature just right for a day outdoors. Whether one was new to the school, was a returning family, or alum; back for a peek down memory lane, TQS Day was a delightful way to spend the afternoon.
