Redlynch landfill operators lose appeal

May 17, 2012 - PRLog -- An estimated 70,000 cubic metres of builders’ rubble, soil and clay had been dumped onto land next to an authorised landfill site at Pound Bottom, near Redlynch, adjoining the open Forest.
NPA enforcement officers issued a Temporary Stop Notice against landfill operators Cleaning Services Group (CSG), which rents the site, in November last year to prevent further lorry loads of material being brought in. The action was also against the landowner Hamptworth Estates and hauliers Inert Recycling. An Enforcement Notice was then issued in December and CSG appealed.
Planning Inspector Keri Williams issued his decision this week following an appeal hearing in April. The decision confirms no more materials can be brought to the areas of land affected and CSG and the landowner now have 12 months in which to remove the unauthorised development.
NPA member and Wiltshire Councillor for the area Leo Randall said: ‘I am pleased the Inspector has recognised the fact that National Parks have the highest levels of protection and has ruled that this type of development in this location right next to the open Forest is totally inappropriate and should be removed. A robust stance has been upheld and it is hoped that the parties will find a sensible solution for the use of this material, subject to appropriate planning and environmental controls, over the next 12 months.”
