One of a Kind Teaching Store Opens

May 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Long-time educator, Karyn Borsuk, opens the doors of her store, Academic Gadgets.
Academic Gadgets is a resale shop for learning materials to assist in keeping spending costs at a minimum for educators. One constant component of an educator’s job is spending money on classroom materials. Academic Gadgets is designed for the cost-minded educator.
Academic Gadgets is the first store of its kind, in the state, with prices designed to be less than one would find from big-box retail outlets and online stores.
Karyn Borsuk, known to her students as Ms. Karyn, has taught in multiple school districts throughout her long career. Her experience in the classroom, Master’s degree in education, and the help of her husband who has taught locally at both at RESA and Baker College, brings years of understanding to exactly what educators are looking for in classroom materials.
The Borsuk’s additional role as parents to three grown boys, one of special needs, allow them to appreciate what parents and home educators are looking for. After considering several locations for the store, they decided that Port Huron, with its easy access to major highways and central location to surrounding schools, would make an excellent location to open their business.
Ms. Karyn was quoted as saying "The inviting atmosphere of the area and the friendly teachers I’ve met, confirms my choice of where to setup the shop". Academic Gadgets is located at 814 10th Street near the Lapeer Avenue intersection.
The store offers new, used and consigned learning and educational items all priced far below retail. Classroom materials, books, games, toys, construction kits, crafts, electronic learning games and more are available on the store floor and are ready for purchase. Also, if you have gently used educational toys, classroom or home-schooling materials that you would like to sell, the store would be happy to take the items under consignment for you. They also offer
additional services such as ID badge and t-shirt printing and a well-informed staff to help with the process. The store has something for everyone, from young and old, including the amazing ball machine that circles the inside of the store. Academic Gadgets is the store that is "taking learning to the fun level"!
The hours of operation are 9:30-5 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays. 9:30-7:00 Wednesdays, Saturday 11-3, Closed Sundays.
