PRLog -- Brooklyn Park, Minnesota--On Sunday, May 6, 2012, over $81,000 was raised to support Israel at Living Word Christian Center’s A Night to Honor Israel event. The money was divided between the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and the United Jewish Fund and Council of St. Paul.
Close to 2,000 Jews and Christians came together to celebrate and show their support for the state of Israel and the Jewish people. The night was hosted by Pastors Mac and Lynne Hammond. It was filled with music (in Hebrew and English), dancing, special speakers, and the premiere of the dramatic presentation "Because They Came: The Jewish Contribution to America," which showcased a few of the many Jewish immigrants who made profound contributions to America.
This event took place during the Celebrate Israel week currently going on at Living Word Christian Center. Other events for this week include a screening of the movie "Israel Inside: How a Small Nation Makes a Big Difference" (Tuesday at 7 p.m.), a meeting with Holocaust survivor Sam Rafowitz (Wednesday at 7 p.m.), a Holocaust exhibit (Mon.-Wed.), Israel Market Place (Mon.-Wed.), and extended hours for the Jewish Christian Library and Center (Mon.-Fri.).
