May 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Life imitates Art in “Moving Stories”

"Moving Stories", a narrative fiction short film directed and produced by Egyptian born and internationally acclaimed Filmmaker/Actress Nora Armani, is in the official selection of The Cannes Film Festival to be presented in the Short Film Corner category.

Nora Armani is no newcomer to the Cannes Croisette as the film "HAIFA" by Rashid Masharawi, that she co-produced starring Mohammad Bakri and Hiam Abbass, who is in the Jury of the Cannes Feature Films Competition this year, was previously presented in the official selection "Un Certain Regard' at the Festival.

Life truly imitates art in “Moving Stories” as Armani was profoundly inspired during the 18th move of her adult life and developed the unique concept of the film while she continued to pack and move from one NYC residence to another.

“I never imagined I would relocate so many times,” says Ms. Armani, who was born in Cairo, near the pyramids, during the Nasser to Sadat era, and after many cities, including Paris, London, Rome, and Los Angeles, now resides in New York City. “Each relocation was a bittersweet adventure, but the most recent move prompted me to tell my story. I scripted, shot  and edited the film while packing, moving and unpacking. But this is not a documentary. I have highly fictionalized the concept of moving. It was a whirlwind of production activity that I suppose took the 'chore' out of the moving itself by motivating me to concentrate instead on the film about it!"

"Moving Stories" features the exquisite music of Jean-Jacques Lemêtre, the cinematography is by Matthew Hefferin, " the film is edited by Harry Glennon and the cast includes Sheilagh Weymouth opposite Armani in the lead.

Armani will be seen in the upcoming TV series “Golden Boy” produced by Nick Wootton and Greg Berlanti for CBS appearing opposite Theo James and will soon be working on a 30-episode Egyptian TV series to be filmed partly in Paris

Nora Armani is available for media interviews. "Moving Stories" will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival, SFC,  May 16-26, 2012.
