Operation Ava to Host First Party for Pooches Featuring Four Legged Models
Local Philadelphia no-kill animal shelter, Operation Ava, announces its first annual Party for Pooches, sponsored by The Philadelphia Pet Hotel & Villas, at Shampoo Nightclub on May 24th. Proceeds from the event will help save the lives of hundreds of homeless and unwanted animals in search of a forever home. The event will feature a fashion-show where all the models have four legs! The Doggie Fashion show will star many of the homeless animals that Operation Ava rescues and cares for while they search for a loving home. The fashion show will feature various canine fashions and will bring attention to the national problem of animal overpopulation and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals. “I think this will be a really fun way to get the community involved with the issue of homeless animals and I am excited to attend this event!” says Rachel Bitting, Temple University student.

All proceeds from the event will go to benefit Operation Ava, enabling it to further its mission of rescuing animals from overburdened shelters locally and nationwide, educating children of all ages on responsible pet ownership, and empowering children to make a difference in their communities.

Everyone 21 and over is invited to come! In addition to the doggie fashion show, the party will include an open bar, finger foods, a 50/50 raffle, and silent auction including prizes such as a Philadelphia Pet Hotel & Villas vacation package, various beauty products, various restaurant gift certificates, artwork and more. Tickets are $30 pre-sale or $35 at the door. You can find more information and purchase tickets at Eventbrite (www.partyforpooches.eventbrite.com).

Operation Ava began when then 9-year old Ava and 12-year old Lexie Gutierrez, both caring girls who have a passion for helping sick and homeless animals decided to make a difference. In July 2009, they visited a local animal shelter and were touched by the large number of sick, homeless and unwanted animals at the shelter. This visit opened their eyes to the growing reality of our times-millions of animals are in need of help and many never get it. One day after Christmas in 2011, Operation Ava reached a milestone - 1,000 adoptions.

Operation Ava’s mission is to provide life-saving rescue and medical assistance for dogs and cats and the families that care for them. The rescue has three primary goals: 1. to provide foster, rescue and adoption services through their Save-A-Life program, 2. To help less fortunate families afford the necessary medical care for their sick pets and 3. To educate kids of all ages on the issues facing homeless, abused and neglected dogs and cats.
