April 26, 2012 - PRLog -- The public is invited to attend a World Affairs Forum special event featuring Ambassador Hardeep Singh Puri, Permanent Representative to the UN of India and Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon, Permanent Representative to the UN of Pakistan. The Ambassadors will speak on “Indo-Pakistani Relations: An Emerging Economic Power Zone?” at MasterCard Worldwide Headquarters in Purchase, New York on May 10.  

Ambassador Puri's career in public service began in 1974 when he joined the Indian Foreign Service. Between 1988 and 1991, he served as the Coordinator of UNDP / UNCTAD Multilateral Trade Negotiations Project to help Developing Countries in the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations. He has also held many other important posts such as Secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi (2008-2009) and Ambassador of India to Brazil (2006-2008). In 2009, he became the Permanent Representative of India to the UN.

Ambassador Haroon's career in public service spans more than forty years, beginning with election Coordinator for Pakistan Muslim League in 1970.  He held many other important positions, including Director Board of Directors Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (1997-1999); Chairman Griffith College Karachi (1999-2005); and President, Pakistan-China Business Forum from (1999 to 2004). In 2008 he became the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN.
