April 19, 2012 - PRLog -- One of the highlights of this year’s event will be a new talent competition called “I-FACTOR!” A spin-off combo of the “X-FACTOR” and the ever-popular “American Idol,” this competition, created for kids grades 6-12, will pay homage to the State of Israel by incorporating “Israel themed” singing or dancing.

Over the past several weeks of auditions, the contest was narrowed down to nine finalists who will all sing in front of a panel of judges for the coveted “I-FACTOR” Title, and a chance to win a round-trip ticket to Israel, sponsored by El Al Airlines and Jerry Allen Travel. The finalists who will perform beginning at 8pm, include:

“This is a very exciting component of our Israel 64 Celebration,” commented Dror Gershoni, Community Shaliach. “The caliber of talented kids we have participating in this contest is like something you would see on national television,” added Romina Naparstek, coordinator for the I-FACTOR Talent Competition.

Other components of the Israel 64 Celebration include a FREE Carnival for children from 5-8pm, Israeli-Style Kosher Food Court where a variety of foods will be available for purchase, interactive activity stations, and a torch lighting ceremony honoring 8 individuals who have strengthened the ties between South Florida and the People of Israel.

Additionally, a major highlight of the Celebration will be a special unprecedented exhibit, Israel-From Biblical Times to the Present, featuring 500 pieces of artwork created by children, grades K-12. This exhibit includes oils, pastels, charcoals, pen and ink drawings, sculptures, scale models and more. The exhibit is open to the public from Tuesday, April 24 through Friday, April 27 – $5 for Students/Seniors, $10 general admission. During the hours of the Israel 64 Celebration, from 5-10pm, all students will be admitted to the exhibit at no charge. For more information, call Dror Gershoni, at 305-932-4200 x128.
