AVENTURA, Fla. - Oct. 21, 2016 - PRLog -- Martha Hall Kelly, whose debut novel, "Lilac Girls," has become a New York Times best-seller, will kick-off the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center's Community Meet the Author Jewish Book Series on Wednesday, November 16, at 7:30pm.  The event will be held at Temple Sinai of North Dade, 18802 NE22nd Avenue, North Miami Beach and is free and open to the public.

Kelly, a native New Englander now living in Atlanta, Ga., spent five years writing "Lilac Girls," which is based on a true story of how Caroline Ferraday, a New York socialite, rescues several women from the Ravensbruck Concentration Camp and brings them to the United States.

The Meet the Author Series, a collaborative project of the Michael-Ann Russell JCC and Sponsoring Organizations - Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, Chabad Chayil, Mishkan Miami of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Temple Sinai of North Dade, and WIZO, is offered complimentary with light refreshments being served.  A question and answer period follows each author's presentation, along with a book-signing.  (Books will be available for purchase at each event.)

According to Audrey Aronchick, a member of the Meet the Author Series committee, "It is a personal pleasure for me to serve as Temple Sinai's representative to this committee since the Series was initiated six years ago and to see how attendance steadily increases year after year.  Our committee, comprised of representatives from different Jewish organizations and institutions, is dedicated to offering high quality literary programs with an outstanding array of authors whose recently published books appeal to both the Jewish community and the community-at-large."

The Meet the Author Jewish Books Series is made possible through the Steven J. Kravitz Adult Jewish Education Fund of the Michael-Ann Russell JCC, the support of the Sponsoring Organizations, and "With the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners."
