Pune / Edinburgh: Suzlon Group-subsidiary REpower UK, has signed a contract to supply turbines for Renerco’s Cotton Farm wind farm in Cambridgeshire, England. The Cotton Farm wind farm is the second contract REpower has signed with Renerco in the past four months, and will see eight REpower MM92 machines installed. The MM92 turbines have a rated output of 2.05 MW each.

Cotton Farm Wind Farm will have a total rated output of 16.4 megawatts (MW) and will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of nearly 10,000 homes annually. Construction at Cotton Farm is due to start in October 2012 and is expected to be completed by February 2013.

Rick Eggleston, Managing Director – REpower UK, commented: “I am pleased to announce the closure of our second contract with Renerco. This comes hot on the heels of a contract to supply five MM92 turbines for Renerco’s Earls Hall wind farm, which we signed back in December. The Cotton Farm wind farm adds to our growing portfolio with Renerco, and we look forward to working with them again.”

Elke Hanel, Head of Project Development Wind Energy – RENERCO, said: “2012 will be a busy year for RENERCO in the UK. We are glad to have had the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with REpower and work with them to implement our challenging construction schedules for Earl’s Hall Farm and Cotton Farm wind farms. Our focus as a developer and owner of wind projects has always been on delivering highly productive and reliable wind farms; working with market leading turbine suppliers such as REpower helps us achieve those aims.”

Since its launch in 2004, REpower UK has delivered 37 onshore wind farms in Scotland, England and Wales and two offshore wind farms: Project Beatrice in the North Sea and its largest offshore contract to date, Ormonde wind farm. Owned by Vattenfall, this offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea consists of the 30 REpower 5M wind turbines with a total rated output of 150 MW.
