Dror for the Wounded Foundation Shabbat Dinner 2012 in New York City

April 17, 2012 - PRLog -- The Dror for the Wounded Foundation will be hosting their Annual Shabbat Dinner at Congregation Shearith Israel on the Upper West Side. The evening will include a tour of the The Spanish- Portuguese Synagogue, one of the oldest in the North America, along with a gourmet Middle- Eastern and Mediterranean dinner. Sponsors include: Beth Torah Caterers, Jspace.com, and other anonymous donors.

The Dror for the Wounded Foundation is an organization that provides financial assistance and social support to severely wounded soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces.  The organization was founded by IDF veteran Dror Dagan, after he was severely wounded on a mission to arrest a terrorist, leaving Dror paralyzed from the waist down.  Dror required a life-saving operation that the government initially would not fund.  He had to come up with over $300,000 on his own to fund the surgery.  While he was recovering, Dror made a vow to do something for other wounded soldiers to minimize the difficulties they face during injury and recovery.  He founded Dror for the Wounded in Israel in 2005 for this purpose.  

Money raised that evening will go towards providing wounded soldiers with services not funded by the government or any other agency. This year’s focus has been a hand-driven bicycle team for 6 paraplegic veterans and a rehab center in Israel for wounded veterans.
