NYC2LA Art Launches an Evening of Fantasy Pop Art, Wine, and Live Music at Bar Thalia

NEW YORK - Aug. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- NYC2LA Art, an exclusive art club for artists and venues, hosts “Knockout Fantasy,” an exhibit by the adept and established artist, Christopher Georgalas. Original artworks will be on display until October 1st, 2013. The opening exhibit will take place on Thursday, August 8 at 7:30pm at Bar Thalia on 95th Street and Broadway. The evening will include live music by local musician, Mimi Jones, semi-open bar, and art for purchase. Georgalas will also be attending the opening to discuss his artwork. Admission is free, but guests are asked to RSVP to info@NYC2LA.com.

“Knockout Fantasy” will be an evening to enjoy fine art with a fantastic ambiance. Georgalas’ work is inspiring, uplifting, and fun. With a blend of pop art and dada, Bar Thalia, adjacent with Symphony Space, a multi-disciplinary performing arts center on the Upper West Side Manhattan, is the perfect venue to host such an artistic and multi-faceted evening.

Christopher Georgalas is native colombian who was educated at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY where he majored in Fine Arts; with a concentration in sculpture, and a minor in graphic design. Georgalas completed his final term in Florence, Italy at Scuola Lorenza de Medici studying sculpture and computer animation. The Times Herald Record describes his work as “Transparent acrylic sheets, cartoon clippings, raw splashes of paint…these are the ingredients that appear ripped from the pages of real life and transformed by Georgalas’ vision into objects of art.” Some of the artists whom have inspired him are Jean-Michel Basquiat, John Chamberlain, Marcel Duchamp, George Segal, Robert Gober, Tadeusz Kantor, Henri Matisse, Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, and Bill Woodrow.
