Landau Will Help Set The World's Record For The Biggest Gilligan's Island Singalong

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. performs at special Gilligan’s Island Charity Fundraiser Concert and Sing A Long Friday April 27th in Bluefield WV

April 13, 2012 - PRLog -- As the famous Gilligan’s Island theme song goes “Just sit right back..” and help set a world’s record as Little Buddy Radio WGAG 93.1 FM, The Denver Foundation and Bill Cole Automall present Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. in concert Friday, April 27th at 8pm at the Bluefield Auditorium.

The America’s Got Talent winner and Columbia Records recording artist who has so skillfully brought back classics from the Great American Songbook will appear on the same historic stage that has spotlighted legendary performers including James Brown, Etta James, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Duke Ellington in years past. Landau and his 18 piece Sweet Lipzz Big Band will perform songs from Landau’s debut CD “That’s Life’, as well as soul favorites including “Mustang Sally”, “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” and “My Girl”.

In a unique twist, audience members will become part of the performance as they join Landau, his band and Little Buddy Radio’s ‘Sunny Side Up’ co-hosts Dreama Denver and Charlie Thomas as they attempt to set a world’s record for the most people gathered in one place singing the iconic “Gilligan’s Island” TV theme song, rated #1 by the music industry trade group ASCAP.

Proceeds from the Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. concert appearance and “Gilligan’s Island” sing a long will benefit The Denver Foundation, founded by Dreama Denver and her late husband, comedic great Bob Denver.  The foundation serves special needs individuals in West Virginia.  Bob and Dreama met while co-starring opposite one another in the theatre, and appeared together in a “Gilligan’s Island” TV movie before settling in Southern West Virginia where Dreama grew up. TV fans of all ages remember Bob Denver, who passed away in 2005, as the star of several popular television series including “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis” and his signature role in “Gilligan’s Island” where he starred as the title character.  Gilligan fans remember he was also called “Little Buddy” on the classic television show, which is where Little Buddy Radio got it’s name.

Tickets for the Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. benefit concert and Gilligan’s Island sing a long are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and are available at http://www.itickets.com/events/284876.html via phone at 304-425-8660 or locally at Bill Cole AutoMall, Route 460 between Princeton and Bluefield, National College in Princeton, Princeton/Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, Bluefield Chamber of Commerce, Manicures and More on Bland Street in Bluefield and King’s Tire in Bluewell.
