Live FutureOffice Network Smartcast - New W2 Reporting Requirements

April 10, 2012 - PRLog -- The health care reform requires employers to report for 2012 the value of any employer-sponsored health insurance on employee Form W-2s next January.  That means you have to start calculating coverage now if you have not already done so.
Not only does this apply for medical plans, but also for any prescription drug plans, Medicare supplemental policies and more. Among the changes, correctly aggregating this information seems to prove as a challenge to employers.  

Under PPACA, reporting is required for not only current employees, but also, former employees who are provided with employer-sponsored health insurance. Former employees could be interpreted as retirees, terminated employees utilizing COBRA, as well as surviving spouses. Understandably, a handful would not even receive a Form W-2 from that employer.  As a result of these changes, comprehending the New W-2 Reporting Requirements now seems more important than ever.
