April 4, 2012 - PRLog -- ServeFinder.net now has over 200 listed Process Servers. There are still premium listing spots in select states so sign up now in your area. To thank our members, we have included an in-depth press release on how Process Servers can increase visitors by writing relevant articles.

Writing online today requires a few different approaches, but once you’ve learned these techniques, you should be able to write articles that engage the reader and help build your process server company, both online and off.

Make your process servers articles personal by using “you”

A simple tip that goes a long way with everything you do online, whether it be writing articles about process service or sending marketing emails, is to write in a way that makes readers believe you are writing specifically for them. Process Service is a niche topic online so you should do everything you can to make it as accessible as possible.

Use “you” as much as possible to make it seem like you are speaking directly to one person as if they were across the table from you. An easy way to accomplish this is to think of an attorney or paralegal that you’ve done business with for years. Imagine you are talking to them and answering their questions. Write as much as possible without going back and re-reading or editing. Your process server article will have a much more personal feel.

Write the way you talk

In the earlier days of the internet, there seemed to be two distinct writing styles. One being informational and educational writing that was meant to inform. This method of writing consisted mainly of copying the exact style of how you would write offline at the time. The other style was a free-for-all that could contain misspellings, bad or no punctuation, profanity or any number of other things you wouldn’t have found in normal writing. This seemed to be because there was no accountability and you could literally say whatever you wanted.

But over the last few years, those two styles have met somewhere in the middle to create a language style that is much more similar to we communicate in our every day lives. Today, credibility and trust are what today’s internet is largely about and writing in a way that keeps the same basic flow as natural speech helps the reader in consuming the information you are writing about.

For process servers, this means that you should use simple words and let your sentences flow naturally. Imagine you are having a conversation with a client of yours and address your readers the same way you would address a paralegal or attorney who is standing in front of you. Use industry phrases when needed but write as simply as possible so your process server articles are easy to understand. I also find that people share articles with more people if they know they are easy to understand.

Write long and detailed process server articles (http://servefinder.net/articles)

Most people read differently online. Instead of consuming every word like you would in a book, online readers tend to skim more, bouncing from one heading to another. So instead of writing short articles that look the same as every other article online, spend some extra time and turn your blog post on process serving into a long and highly detailed article instead.

Use headlines to break up your paragraphs allowing the skimmers to bounce through different sections. But write for the people that came to your site looking for answers to one specific process service question and answer that question as completely as possible. Add images that are related to the article for even more detail.

In a Forbes article on post length, one writer started posting fewer articles (the green line in the graph) but going into much greater detail and saw large increases in traffic.

This can most likely be attributed to the fact that his readers enjoyed that the increased level of detail allowed them to consume one entire article on the subject, instead of needing to read multiple articles from multiple sources to get the entire solution to their problem. Try this technique when writing about process serving.

Create conversations around your process server topic

The best way to build readership and get return visitors to your process server blog or website (which will always boost your business) is to create an environment where conversations and communication can thrive. Businesses, and process servers especially, forget that blogging and writing articles is not a sales pitch. Don’t write articles about how you’re better than everyone else because you’ve been doing it longer. Tell a story, and if the the story happens to include those facts, then great.

Just like we said earlier, write like you talk. Write as if you are just a process server talking to an attorney on the other end of a phone.

And when finish the article by leaving it open ended and asking for questions and feedback. Say things like “What are your thoughts?” or “Tell me what you think and we’ll try to update this article with newer information.”. Get people involved and turn your process server article into a process server conversation.

Prove that you’re an expert Process Server

The last technique for writing about Process Service is to paint yourself and your company as the authority. This is important and can drive lots of business but needs to be handled delicately. Don’t just scream out “We’re the best process servers in the state of Florida” (http://servefinder.net/florida/) and if you do, you better prove it.

So how do you achieve this without coming off as arrogant? Slipping subtle references to your years of experience or notable cases can help show your authority. Or you could say something like “Last month when we were working on a huge case for (insert large notable law firm or company here)” and then move past it and continue with your article. If someone on another site talks about your company or an article you’ve posted, point it out.

And when you make statements that need backing up, do it. Don’t just say that you’re a founding member of the Process Server Association in your state, link to the page on the association’s website that says you are.

Conclusion

There is a huge amount of information out there for readers and potential customers to sift through, even in a profession like Process Service. Don’t get frustrated if your articles don’t seem popular in the beginning. Stick with it and be patient and over time you will find the traffic, and the profits, steadily increasing.
