Studio West Art Gallery Receives Siford Community Development Award

March 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Work Skills Corporation is pleased to announce that the city of Brighton Planning Commission presented its annual 2011 Siford Award to Studio West Art Gallery on March 19, 2012.The Siford Award is given to a recent construction, remodeling or redesign project that exemplifies the city’s overall standards of appearance, comfort and community betterment.

Studio West, The Home of Art with a Heart, is located at 111 South West Street, in downtown Brighton.   Hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 12-8 pm.  In addition to offering unique art works and smaller gift items for purchase—created by individuals who have barriers to employment and their allies—Studio West provides a variety of experiential opportunities for the community to engage in the arts.

Studio West is Work Skills Corporation’s (WSC) newest venture and provides people with disabilities and others with an opportunity to express their artistic abilities by creating artwork in a multitude of forms and the opportunity to display and sell their work for income.  Studio West provides WSC, a 501 (c) (3) community-based organization, a venue to increase community involvement and exposure.
