First Class Concepts Relieved to hear Muamba on Road to Recovery

March 21, 2012 - PRLog -- There were scenes of shock on Saturday afternoon as Muamba fell to the floor, away from any other players. Medics raced to attend to him and spend 20 minutes trying to restart his heart on the pitch. In total it is believed that his heart stopped for almost an hour.  The match was abandoned as players from both teams were visibly shaken.

After the shocking scenes First Class Concepts were relieved to hear on Monday that the player was showing some signs of improvement. Bolton Manager Owen Coyle announced yesterday that he had spoken to Fabrice. He said “There’s still a long way to go but that is really positive.” Bolton owner Eddie Davies added, "It is early days so we don't want to get over optimistic about things because people can relapse in these situations. But at the moment there are no bad signs."

Aside from the nationwide relief at Muamba’s recovery First Class Concepts is aware of the debate that it has encouraged about the medical treatment of players. Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has demanded twice yearly medical screenings for Premier League players. It appears that he was unhappy with the medical team at City when he arrived.

A spokesperson for First Class Concepts said, “We’re 100 per cent behind Mancini. People seem to think that because these are athletes at the peak of physical fitness that they’re not going to have any medical problems. The reverse it probably true, they put a huge amount of strain on their bodies pushing themselves to the limit so where the heart is concerned they’re probably at greater risk.”

The spokesperson continued that aside from raising an important debate into the safety of players something else positive has come out of the event.

“We feel that everyone has had their faith re-affirmed in football fans. As Muamba was stretchered off the field both fans cheered his name and the support shown in other matches over the weekend has been really phenomenal. Sport is meant to unite people and through this terrible event we’ve seen it happen once more.”
