ICT - the single most significant key to economic development

March 19, 2012 - PRLog -- LONDON, UK: Distinguished academic and senior lecturer, Dr Chris Imafidon, who was described by the BBC as one of the “World’s foremost scholars on leveraging informatics for learning and exceptional achievement (genius)” has stressed the importance of information technology in stabilising the economy. The Oxford University-mentor said 'Innovative use of Technology (ICT) [is] the single most significant key to economic development' touching on points that will be made by Osun State, Govenor Rauf Aregbesola in his lecture on "The current Technological and Educational challenges and opportunities."

Dr Imafidon is expected to pay tribute to his student and former mentee premiership star Fabrice Muamba, by requesting for a minute silence at the beginning of the talk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IV9OAgjybs&feature=youtube_gdata). Alongside him, important political figures will be in attendance including the likes of Vince Cable, His Excellency, Dr Dalhatu Sarki Tarfida, Baroness Chalker, Streatham MP Chuka Umunna and London Mayor, Boris Johnson. Dr Imafidon, who is a spokesman for the Excellence in Education programme  - who partners with various governments and supports the academic achievement of students from inner-city areas - commended such free flow of communication and collaborative initiatives between universities and Heads of government.

1) Excellence in Education (EIE) programme is a non-profit, non-governmental international programme that works with schools, local groups, companies and charities interested in the educational development of students in inner-cities and any children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Current work is concentrated in Essex, London Boroughs of Newham, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, Hackney, Waltham Forest, Enfield and Lewisham; and EIE also has students in Manchester, Luton, Kent and Essex.
