March 20, 2012 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, NY – Choreographer Jamie Benson http://www.jamiebenson.com/ & Fashion Designer Andrae Gonzalo http://andraegonzalo.com/ present the satirical ballet Bowel Movement as part of Triskelion Arts’ 3rd Annual Comedy in Dance Festival. Designed to confront one of the last taboos of man, Bowel Movement depicts a nightmarish dreamscape wherein a very refined lady battles her darkest fear, her own excrement. Frustrated with the Los Angeles dance scene, Benson recently moved to New York to carve out his own dance niche somewhere in between the realms of entertainment, fine art & experimental performance. This alliance between the ethereal realm of dance & tangible, everyday experience creates an accessible forum for integration, not only for the dance community but also for the general public. The curated, six-night festival will showcase 29 works by an arsenal of some of the funniest choreographers bringing on an onslaught of the goofy, daring & not-so-serious sensibilities we all secretly crave. http://www.jamiebenson.com/ Jamie Benson aims to challenge performance traditions & create dynamic, accessibly original, 21st Century work through choreography & instruction. By pairing classic & barbaric forms of dance & theater, my evolving hybrid-brand of performance attempts to demystify the enigmatic, sometimes cryptic, art form of dance by rummaging through the humor & profundity in everyday rituals & landscapes. This alliance between the ethereal realm of dance & tangible, everyday experience creates an accessible forum for integration, not only for the dance community but also for the general public. My aim is to develop a bridge brand between these different forms in order to affirm their merit to a mass audience.
