March 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Texas Trust Credit Union increased its asset base by four percent, to $726 million, in 2011 while adding nearly 8,900 new members. The highly ranked credit union also received a four-star rating from Bauer Financial, recognizing Texas Trust for being safe and financially sound and operating well above regulatory capital requirements.

Jim Minge, president of Texas Trust announced the credit union’s year-end results at its annual meeting March 10 in Grand Prairie, Texas. The credit union gave away $10,000 in various increments to member attendees.

Minge reported that more than 60 percent of new members opened checking accounts, taking advantage of the credit union’s popular Free & Flexible checking account, which includes a free debit card.

Texas Trust’s employees continued to invest in the community, volunteering more than 3,570 hours of time serving various charitable and civic organizations. Through the Together We Can Feed More Campaign, the credit union donated more than $30,000 and enough food to provide more than 100,000 meals for hungry North Texans.

Texas Trust’s Spirit in Action initiative provided valuable financial assistance to schools at a time when reduced state funding was pinching local school budgets. Between August and December of 2011, the Spirit Debit Reward program channeled $32,386.05 to area schools based on 215,907 debit card transactions. Schools earned 15 cents each time a member used a spirit card to make a purchase. Texas Trust also awarded $20,000 in student scholarships in 2011 and provided student-oriented financial education to more than 37,000 young people.

Texas Trust’s legacy of service excellence was also demonstrated again in 2011 as the credit union was named in separate local recognitions as the “Best Place to Bank” in Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Cedar Hill and Athens.

“Out of all our achievements in 2011, we are most proud of how many new members we received from referrals,” Minge noted. “Thirty percent of new members joined Texas Trust because of a referral from a friend or family member who shared their positive experience with them.”

Minge added, “Creating a positive member experience is fundamental to how we conduct business. Our employees strive to create an atmosphere where a member feels welcome and worthy, regardless whether they have $5 or $5 million in their account.”
