March 12, 2012 - PRLog -- There was once a time when Detroit was a thriving city; booming with innovation and limitless possibilities. Unfortunately it was ‘once upon a time’. What happened to Detroit? What can we do to better this once inspirational city? The [D]Movement believes in the idea that coming together and supporting new inspiring ideas is a great way to drive economic and cultural impact on the Detroit community. This is why the [D]Movement is coming back for another year to inspire and get people engaged to grow Detroit. Believe it or not Detroit has some of the greatest potential, It's just not always seen. Detroit has a lot to offer the world. Did you know that Detroit is in the top 10 as one of the fastest growing tech cities in the world, at least as far as meetup numbers go? That’s why, this year, it’s all about meetups.

For those not familiar with the term, a meetup is a meeting, especially a regular meeting of people who share a particular interest. In this case, the interest revolves around the betterment of Detroit. There are a bunch of cool and inspiring things to see in Detroit, but you don't have to look for them because they are coming together for one night at the VisTaTech Center on April 12th at 6:00 P.M. on the campus of Schoolcraft College (18600 Haggerty Road, Livonia). Andrew Humphrey, Emmy Award winning meteorologist for WDIV, is back again to host the [D]Movement event.

Forget the misconception that you have to live in Detroit to make an impact. Let's face it, when good people come together to collaborate, great things can happen. Meetups are wonderfully inspirational events and can create some pretty innovative ideas. Not to mention the positivity it encourages. We'd like to honor these people because, well, they just have a big part in helping Detroit grow. Come out to the [D]Movement 2 Conference and find out what meetup is for you or maybe organize your own meetup.

Enjoy an art show by the Schoolcraft College CGT Department and refreshments provided by students in Schoolcraft's Culinary Arts program. The event is free to attend for students registering in advance and $5 for all others registering in advance. Tickets are available at the door for $10.
