Celebration Generosity: Church to Give Away Half a Million Dollars This Weekend

March 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Community Christian Church will be giving away 100% of its weekend offering in its fifth annual “Celebration Generosity,” which takes place March 17 and 18, 2012.  Initiated at COMMUNITY in 2008, Celebration Generosity is a weekend in which every dollar of every donation from a single weekend is donated to one of five “teams”, each dedicated to a specific mission:
•   Community 4:12 - to address poverty and justice issues in under-resourced areas like east Aurora and Joliet
•   Haiti - to rebuild communities and impact the people of Haiti through our partnership with World Relief.
•   Philippines – removing children from poverty and abuse on the streets, starting new churches, and offering quality education for local communities.
•   NewThing - to start new churches around the world relentlessly dedicated to helping people find their way back to God.
•   Local – each campus location has projects specifically allocated to restoring their communities: working with schools, park districts and city councils. Every church campus is dedicated to serving their local community.
“This is a weekend where we give our entire offering to the work of our teams who help to fulfill the Jesus Mission,” explained COMMUNITY’s founder and lead pastor Dave Ferguson.  “Over the last four years, we have given away over $1.75 million and we are praying that this year's offering is our largest yet!”

All 12 Community Christian Church campuses throughout Chicagoland will participate in Celebration Generosity.  In its first four years, Celebration Generosity gave away $1.75 million to these causes.  Church leaders anticipate that this year’s Celebration Generosity will bring in over a half million dollars to donate to the five teams.

Ferguson said of Celebration Generosity, "This is one of the most anticipated weekends we have all year, and the fact is, generosity is contagious, and nothing gets us more excited than giving away a bunch of money to other organizations that are changing their communities and the world."
